Hybrid Search place Catalyst's new CEO; Martin Pearson

Hybrid Search are delighted to announce that we have successfully completed the search for a new CEO for Catalyst Science and Discovery Centre and Museum based in Widnes. One week on from his appointment, Martin met with Dave and Henry.

As a result of a winning a successful Inspiring Science Fund (ISF) grant, Catalyst wanted to appoint a new CEO in order to drive the successful implementation of the board’s strategic vision for the future. We were delighted to be appointed as the search partner for this role. We value Catalyst’s unique contribution to the chemical sector not only as a communicator of chemical-science education, skills and knowledge but also, for the vital role they play in preserving the heritage of the chemical sector’s most treasured artefacts, publications and local history. Catalyst explores the science and technology behind the chemical industry and its impact on our lives, past and present, through a host of hands-on exhibits, activities and demonstrations. The Centre and Museum has an excellent standing throughout the local community, industry and education and Martin will seek to build upon this. With the successful ISF grant award, Catalyst has a unique opportunity to further develop its positive impact on the future direction of those interest in a career in the chemicals sector, and engage with a broad audience of visitors.

Martin brings with him a wealth of leadership experience, regional connections and a passion for supporting youth. Following five years service in the Merchant Navy, Martin had an extensive 32 year career and has held a variety of engineering and business roles and is well connected in the UK nuclear / supply chain. He has previously been the Station Director of Dungeness B, and he was also the Managing Director for a major UK business, exporting enriched uranium to global customers. In his spare time, Martin is a season ticket holder at Liverpool FC, is Deputy Chairman of Active Cheshire, a trustee for Youth Federation and Stick 'n' Step. He retired from full-time operational work in August 2018.

Martin has big plans for Catalyst and is looking forward to leading the Centre and Museum during an exciting period of development. His positive outlook, friendly approach and pragmatic style will be an asset to Catalyst. Hybrid Search were very pleased to see Martin Pearson appointed and want to wish Martin and the Catalyst team all the very best during this exciting period of change and development for the organisation.

Martin said:

"I am thrilled to be joining the team at Catalyst and particularly working with the team to continue to 'preserve the past' whilst 'inspiring future generations' to enjoy what science has to offer in a fun, educational and inspiring way".

"My thanks to Dave and the Hybrid team for a very smooth recruitment process. It felt from day one that we were all aligned on each other's needs and the communication between us through the process was collaborative, timely and very efficient."
